Two stop car, rob city sr citizen at gunpoint

MUMBAI: Two men barged into the car of a 60- year- old man, held him at gunpoint and robbed valuables worth Rs47,000, before fleeing on a scooter, at Andheri ( West) on Thursday morning. The robbery took place around 11.25am while Baldev Valia was driving in his Skoda car from Kamdhenu junction to JP Road in Andheri.

In his statement to the DN Nagar police, Valia said the accused, who were on a Vespa scooter, tapped on his window while he was driving at a slow speed. After he stopped and rolled down the window, they caught hold of him and forced their way into the car.

“Before Valia could raise an alarm, one of the accused pulled out a country made revolver. They snatched away Valia’s gold ring and gold chain worth Rs47,000,” said Vishwas Nangre Patil, additional commission­er of police (west region).

The police have registered a case, but the accused are yet to be identified. “We are probing to identify the accused and are going through CCTV footage. No arrests have been made so far,” said Ajay Kshirsagar, inspector at DN Nagar police station.
