Labour of­fi­cer caught red-handed while ac­cept­ing ` 50,000 bribe

PAN­VEL : Of­fi­cials of Navi Mumbai’s anti- cor rup­tion bureau on Tues­day ar­rested a labour of­fi­cer for al­legedly tak­ing a bribe of Rs50,000 from a fac­tory owner.

Ac­cord­ing to ACB of­fi­cials, the labour of­fi­cer Narayan Bhoir, 52, had vis­ited the com­plainant’s rub­ber fac­tory at Kha­la­pur last week and re­port­edly found norms were be­ing vi­o­lated in the fac­tory.

Bhoir de­manded cash from the com­plainant to not take ac­tion against him.

“Sub­se­quently, when the com­plainant ap­proached us, we asked him to do as Bhoir told him to and laid a trap to ar­rest the ac­cused” said Vivek Joshi, deputy SP of Navi Mumbai ACB.

“We ar­rested him red-hand- ed ac­cept­ing the cash near a shop­ping out­let at Pan­vel on Tues­day,” he added.

An FIR has been reg­is­tered against the ac­cused with the Pan­vel city po­lice sta­tion. He has been booked un­der rel­e­vant sec­tions of the Pre­ven­tion of Cor­rup­tion Act, 1988.
