Techies make portable bike and spy boat
PANVEL: Driven by a proenvironment agenda, two men in Panvel have created a battery-operated motorcycle, which will help people battle fuel costs.
This unique invention, created by Akash Jadhav and Amar Lakhu, both in their mid-twenties, can carry a load of 250kg.
The portable two-wheeler can be used in hospitals, airports and hotels, among other locations. It’s user-friendly and can also be used by the differentlyabled.
“We recently made a portable bike,” said Jadhav, who has a degree in mechanical engineering from Lokmanya Tilak College, Kopar Khairane.
“The bike has a gearbox and can run on battery for 15 hours,” said Lakhu, adding, “The cost of the 45-kg bike is Rs80,000.”
“We also made a small spy boat, which can be operated through remote control,” said Jadhav.
“The project cost us Rs5,000. The boat has a spy camera that can be used to gather intelligence inputs; it could also be used in a children’s swimming pool,” said Jadhav, who has had a creative streak right from is schooling days.
“I have created several innovative things including a robot, a ring made of brass, a wall painting, a pencil covering,” added Jadhav.
Jadhav, who has done special course from Khalapur’s Vishwa Niketan College, is currently working on improving the shape of the portable bike before applying for a patent.
“We want to offer alternatives that are practical, environment-friendly and serve the people,” said Lakhu.
