VASHI: Even as there are reports of a possible NCP-Congress alliance for the civic polls in the wake of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance announcement, Nationalist Congress Party leader Ganesh Naik does not feel that the alliance will be of any help.

Naik’s statements clearly indicate that he is not keen on having an alliance with the Congress, with whose local leaders he has always been at loggerheads.

He said: “I do not feel that an alliance with the Congress will be of any help to us.”

Confirming that there have been talks with the state leadership of the Congress, Naik said, “I have very good relations with them and we have held discussions on the issue.”

Naik said: “I have told them that instead of having an alliance, if they get around 50 seats and are in need of some 6-7 seats, we will extend support to them. If we are closer to the halfway mark, they can extend support to us.”
