Cidco has set up sterilisation centres in New Panvel’s Sector 15 to prevent strays from littering

The planning agency has also roped in an NGO, Defense of Animals, to sterilise stray dogs

It offers the NGO ` 500 to sterilise a stray dog, which is less than the amount spent by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The BMC spends ` 950 to sterilise a stray dog, while the NMMC spends ` 1,100 for the same.

HT There is a shortage of sterilisation centres to deal with strays.
