Defying More’s objection, scores of residents from sectors 1-9, led by former corporator, Avinash Lad, and Nishant Bhagat, president of the Thane Lok Sabha Congress youth cell, volunteered to build a temporary road along the subway. PWD executive engineer Ramesh Agawane said “I am not aware of the service road. It is NMMC’s responsibility to put barricades along the service road to prevent vehicles from taking this road.”

Nishant Bhagat said “The subway road connects Vashigaon to Sector 6 Vashi. With construction of the subway road, people can reach hospitals, schools, colleges within a few minutes.”
