RALLY SPREADS AWARENESS ON AUTISTIC KIDS
VASHI: An autism awareness event was organised by Sunshine School for differently-abled and Forum for Autism on Thursday to mark World Autism Awareness Day.
Autistic children, their parents, paediatricians, psychologists, speech therapists, and special educators began a walk from Sunshine School, Vashi, in the evening. They walked till Shivaji Chowk, where a street play was performed. Songs were sung and flyers distributed to passersby during the rally, which ended at Inorbit mall, Vashi.
Paramita Mazumder, principal of the school, said, “The play depicted the theme of acceptance and inclusion, which is of great importance. The general public should help reduce social stigma and provide opportunities to these children. It gave an insight into the signs and symptoms of autism.”
