MAN HELD WITH PISTOL, THREE LIVE CARTRIDGES

KOPAR KHAIRANE: At a time when t he Navi Mumbai police claim to have taken every possible step to ensure peaceful civic polls in the city, a 26-year-old man was arrested with a country- made pistol, three live cartridges and $40 on Thursday.

The police detained Anand Patel near the railway station around 1.15pm. They arrested him when they found the firearm and notes on him. He is a resident of Rabale MIDC.

“It is still not clear from where he got the pistol and the notes and his motive. We are trying to find out if he was planning to sell the pistol to someone in the area,” said Ashok Naik, senior police inspector. Patel has been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and Indian Arms Act.
