VASHI: A 20- year- old woman from Chembur tried to commit suicide by jumping off the Vashi Creek bridge on Tuesday evening. She was rescued by some fisherman of that area and then taken to NMMC hospital.

“Around 6.30pm, the girl jumped off the old bridge. She lost her consciousness for some time. However, the doctors in the hospital discharged her after she gained consciousness,” said an officer from the Vashi police station.

The officer said, “We later called the girl’s parents to the police station and handed over the girl to them.

“The exact reason behind the incident has not been understood so far. We suspect she was facing some sort of pressure from her family. However, we have not registered any case,” he said.
