Teen, mother held for burglary in Ghansoli

RABALE: The Rabale police have arrested a 19- year- old burglar, who had been operating in the city for the past several months, and recovered valuables worth Rs3.04 lakh from him.

According to the police, residents caught Kisan Mahadev Bonkode trying to break into a house at Ghansoli and handed him over to the police.

“During interrogat­ion, we got to know that the accused’s mother, Mullama, helped him sell the stolen goods. She has also been arrested,” said senior police inspector Gorakh Gojare of Rabale police station.

Gojare said, over the past couple of months, the accused had committed five thefts in Rabale and three in Panvel. “We recovered six tolas of gold jewellery, two tolas of silver jewellery, 11 mobile phones and some other valuables from him,” he said.

Shahaji Umap, DCP (zone I) has announced a reward of Rs10,000 to the investigat­ing team.
