Irregularities in civic body contracts: CAG

MUMBAI: In its supplementary report on urban local bodies, the CAG slammed the BMC for financial irregularities in various contracts including road construction, housekeeping, pay and park facilities and Octroi collection.

The report pointed at the 203% variation in the road construction contracts for Mahakali Road, Khan Abdul Gafar Khan Road and Dr Annie Besant Road in 2008. The report has slammed BMC for incomplete and out-of-contract civil and electrical works of the Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar. The contract was of Rs4.19 crore for 168 works, of which 67 were not completed, the report said.
