R 7L stolen from car at APMC
APMC: Unidentified accused broke the glass windowpane of a car and stole Rs7 lakh from the vehicle at APMC on Friday.
According to the police, the complainant, Atmaram Kale, 45, a businessman from Thane, had parked his car in front of the Turbhe crematorium before heading to a shop in the vicinity around 7am.
“He noticed the theft when he returned two hours later, but came to us after one-and-a-half hours. So, there was no point in conducting a nakabandi,” said Maya More, senior police inspector of APMC police station. “We are now investigating the case to trace the culprits,” said More.
The police are going through the CCTV camera footage in the vicinity to look for clues.
Deputy commissioner of police (crime) Suresh Mengde said, “We have detected many car break-in cases, but residents should not take a chance. They should carry their valuables along with them, even if they are away for a few minutes.”
