PANVEL: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport’s (NMMT) Asudgaon bus depot is in a mess owing to lack of drinking water facility, power supply to the control room and other basic amenities. Lack of basic facilities is causing severe inconvenience to bus drivers and conductors.

The Panvel control room under the control of Asudgaon depot doesn’t have power supply, which makes it difficult for the NMMT employees to stay in the room in the night.

Apart from this, the bus depot does not even have any drinking water facility. Buses, which arrive in the depot in the morning for repair work, carry gallons of water that is used up by the afternoon, after which the depot staff have no source of water.

The control room has no arrangement for the employees to sleep or rest. There is not a single toilet or even a dustbin in the depot premises.

Hence, garbage and food remains are seen scattered in the premises, posing health risks to drivers and conductors.

When co n t a c t e d , N av i Mumbai Municipal Transport official Anil Shinde said, “We are looking into the issue to ensure better amenities at the depot. We have also spoken to higher authorities regarding it.”
