Four dead after SUV hits truck on Mumbai-Pune Expressway
NAVI MUMBAI/PUNE: Four people were killed and eight others injured after their SUV crashed into a truck on the MumbaiPune Expressway 45km from Pune, around 5am on Saturday.
The police said the victims were residents of Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai and were on their way back to the city after attending a wedding at Latur, when the accident took place.
“The SUV’s driver, Shakil Faruque Biradar, tried to overtake the truck, but lost control and hit its rear. In the impact of the collision, four people died on the spot and the eight others in the vehicle were injured,” said MS Nimbarkar, assistant police inspector, Badgaon Mabal police station.
Some motorists informed the police control room and took the victims to Lokmanya hospital at Nigdi. The four dead were iden- tified as Kasin Kader Patel, 76, Hamida Kasin Patel, 64, Farida Mujaber Patel, 35, and Irfan Ahmad Biradar, 12.
