VASHI: Closed-circuit television ( CCTV) cameras have been installed at the deputy RTO office in Vashi with an aim to bring in transparency and keep touts at bay.

Around 16 CCTV cameras have been installed on the RTO’s premises including the offices of deputy RTO and assistant RTO, the lobby, passages, all sections and the entrance.

Deputy RTO Sanjay Dhaygude has taken up the initiative of installing the CCTV cameras in the office premises to keep a check on allegations of indiscipline, haphazard files, agents crowding, unhygienic conditions, lack of response by officials and staff and little checks on visitors at the RTO offices.

Though agents have recently been banned from entering RTO offices, there are reports of them getting work done on the sly for customers.

Dhaygude said, “Even if there are CCTV cameras installed throughout the premises in other offices, they are never installed in the cabins of the top officers. However, in our office, the cameras have been installed in the cabins of all officers.”

He added, “The officers have volunteered to have the cameras, which will help us win the confidence of all and bring in further transparency in our working.”

THE CAMERAS WILL HELP US WIN THE CONFIDENCE OF ALL AND BRING IN FURTHER TRANSPARENCY IN OUR WORKING.
