DRIVE AGAINST ILLEGAL PAP STRUCTURES

-

Cidco vice-chairman and managing director Sanjay Bhatia has said Cidco will continue with its drive against illegal structures built by project affected people (PAP) in the city. Bhatia has said that no illegal structures will be tolerated.

While fresh notices have been issued to 219 structures, Cidco has identified a total of 1,657 illegal structures. These include 1,021 structures in NMMC area and 636 structures in Cidco area.

The state government has said it plans to regularise houses built till December 2012. The high court had ordered all illegal constructions built since January 2013 be demolished. Cidco had accordingly initiated its demolition drive in Navi Mumbai, Panvel and Uran areas.

The drive was halted in mid-June following protests by PAP. A meeting was held between the PAP leaders and Cidco. They demanded a review of all the structures and listing of the illegal structures based on the norms set.

Cidco conducted a review and based on the norms sent notices to 219 constructions in August.
