Residents donate blood in memory of 26/ 11 martyrs
As a mark of respect for the martyrs of the 26/ 11 Mumbai terror attacks, around 200 residents donated blood at a camp at Vashi railway station.
The camp was organised for the sixth year by Muslim Ekta Foundation in association with Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation from 10 am to 6 pm on Thursday.
Police commissioner Prabhat Ranjan also visited the camp.
“We had more than 200 people donating blood for those in need. Respecting the martyrs on this day, residents and commuters come forward to donate blood,” said Mohammed Salim Shaikh, executive chairman of the foundation.
Certificates were issued to all donors.
Meanwhile, Navi Mumbai police organised a programme at Shivaji Chowk in Vashi to salute and pray tributes to the security personnel who lost their lives while saving a hundred others.
Candles were lit on the occasion.“26/ 11 was a virtual war on our city and nation. The police and paramilitary forces fought bravely,” said the police commissioner.
