POLICE MEET BANK AUTHORITIE­S TO CREATE AWARENESS

The Thane police, after receiving order from Parambir Singh, commission­er of police, have not only displayed posters and banners about cyber fraud, but have ordered every police station’s commanding officers to visit banks and create awareness about such fraud. “Recently, we had a meeting with all the bank managers in our jurisdicti­on including nationalis­ed, state and local banks, and made them aware about the rise in debit card fraud. We told them that everyone who opens a new account with them should be asked not to share their debit card details on phone or any such details that could result in a crime. Such a programme was conducted by every police station in the commission­erate,” said Abhijeet Mohite, police inspector (crime), Kapurbawdi police station.
