ONLINE SHOPPING, A NEW MODUS OPERANDI

Earlier, after taking your personal details, fraudsters would transfer your money to their bank account, which was easy to trace for the police. But, nowadays the new modus operandi is to do online shopping and pay bills, which makes it difficult for police to trace the fraudsters. “Fraudsters use various online shopping methods, including m-pesa, a way to pay bills online; e-wallet, for booking Indian railway tickets online; SBI buddy, to transfer money or pay bills,” said a senior police officer from Thane commissionerate.
