FIVE HELD FOR RAPING MINOR GIRL IN THANE

THANE: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by some men in Kalyan region of the district, following which five people were arrested, police said on Wednesday.

The accused were identified as Samip Patil, Pratamesh Bhoir, Vinayak Patil, Nilesh Kale and Mayuresh Patil, the police said.

The incident occurred on February 15, when the minor was alone at her residence, Thane police public relations officer Gajanan Kabdule said.

The girl received a call from an acquaintance asking her to accompany him for a stroll. She came out of the house to find two men on a motorcycle there.

When she refused to go with them, another man came and dragged her on to the motorcycle. She was taken to a field near Shramik Vishram building beside a brick kiln, where two other accused were present.

The girl was repeatedly raped by four accused men while Mayuresh Patil kept an eye on the road, he said. A case has been registered against the five under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act.
