NMMC STARTS CLEANLINESS DRIVE IN GOVT OFFICES
CBD BELAPUR: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has been organising a number of programmes in the city, under the Swachch Bharat Mission.
As per the instructions of the Union urban ministry to include government and semigovernment buildings in the drive, a special cleanliness drive has been undertaken by NMMC from March 1 to 15.
As a part of the drive, the NMMC’s Belapur ward office at Belapur Bhavan, along with the social development department, zone I department and Kokan Railway Corporation Limited was cleaned.
During the drive, the officials and personnel spontaneously undertook cleaning of their seating place, their table and cupboards to bring about a change in the office environment.
Municipal commissioner Dinesh Waghmare said: “We have appealed to various ward offices and government offices in our jurisdiction to keep the interiors and exteriors of their offices clean. This will surely increase the work efficiency due to the clean and healthy environment.”
Waghmare said, “During the special drive, we will inspect the cleanliness in the offices, the number of office urinals and rest rooms and the state they are in and also the facilities provided in them.”
Based on the marks each office gets, the NMMC will declare the cleanest government office and building.
Mayor Sudhakar Sonawane said: “We appeal to the offices of NMMC and all government and semi- government departments and government undertakings and programme centres to actively participate in the drive.”
He added: “By keeping their offices, toilets, bins and buildings clean they can ensure that the residents’ health is not affected.”
