The 2 hours and 15 minutes play with 40 songs will be performed for the first time in Navi Mumbai.
The troupe from Chennai has a team of 25 members with 13 men and four women artistes.
The director and lead performer of the play, 62- year- old Shri TV Vardharajan said this would be the second performance play in Mumbai in a month.
“The play was inaugurated in December last year in Chennai and has already been performed 20 times across India. This will be our 21st performance and we are eagerly looking forward to stage our magnum opus musical drama Shri Thyagarajar in Navi Mumbai and expecting a warm and theatrically inclined audience,” said Vardharajan.
Organisers said the comprehensive family drama provides an insight into the real life of the saint poet, highlighting his devotion to Lord Rama and his struggles in life.
Kannan Iyer, treasurer of VFAS, said, “The composition of the story delves into the persona of the man who has composed innumerable soulful songs in praise of Lord Rama.”
