NAVI MUM­BAI: A 32-year-old man died af­ter he was hit by a stick on his head by his younger brother and three other peo­ple at a quarry in Pan­vel on Thurs­day evening.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, Dhar­mashankar Kohl and his brother Jagdish worked at Sameer Chau­guale quarry at Kun­de­war vil­lage. They were not in good terms over a prop­erty for the past sev­eral months.

Around 9pm on Thurs­day, as they were sit­ting with some other work­ers of the quarry, Jagdish broached the prop­erty is­sue and started ques­tion­ing Dhar­mashankar. He tried to rea­son, but Jagdish was not ready to lis­ten.

“Within a few min­utes they got into a scuf­fle. In a fit of rage, Jagdish, along with three of his friends, at­tacked Dhar­mash­nakar with a stick on his head and then fled the spot. Dhar­mashankar suf­fered se­vere in­juries in the at­tack and he died af­ter some­time,” said a po­lice of­fi­cer from Pan­vel city po­lice sta­tion.

“We are now search­ing for them and hope to solve the case soon. We are also try­ing to un­der­stand if there were any other rea­sons be­hind the mur­der,” the of­fi­cer said.
