Jui Nagar subway in pathetic state, corporators demand revamp
NERUL: The potholes on the road at Jui Nagar subway have made life hell for the motorists, passengers and local residents of Jui Nagar. The subway is use by thousands of residents of Jui Nagar, Nerul and Shiravane.
The Swayambhu Ganesh temple located next to the subway is thronged by a large number of devotees every Tuesday and on Chaturthi and Ganesh Jayanti days. Patients and their relatives going to Shiravane FRU hospital have to face the hotholes. Students and their parents going to various schools in the area have to make regular use of the subway. They have make their way through the water in the subway.
Local corporator, Vishal Sasane, said: “NMMC needs to make arrangements for water to drain. I will also demand a speed-breaker.”
NMMC house leader JD Sutar, the local corporator, said: “I had tabled a resolution for the repair of the subway in the first general body meeting of the present house of NMMC.”
He added, “I had demanded that potholes be filled and the grills be replaced.”
Umesh Patil, NMMC deputy engineer, establishment department, Nerul, said, “We have sent two proposals for beautification, gutter work and concretization of the subway.”
