KAMOTHE: Cidco invited tenders to fill the potholes in Kamothe area on Wednesday. It has allocated Rs2.61 crore for the purpose.

At a number of places due to the water pipeline leakages, there are potholes in the middle of the roads.

Those digging up the road to repair pipelines have not done much to repair the potholes. This is causing traffic problems as the roads have become accidentprone.

Roads have been dug up at a number of places to lay cables. The debris has been dumped in the area. This has been causing major hassles to the drivers and pedestrians.

In some sectors, digging has been undertaken for chambers. These areas have mud all over.

In Sector 20, connections are being undertake for sewage water flow.

For this, the middle of the road has been dug up, inconveniencing motorists.

At Sector 21, massive digging work has been undertaken opposite Haware Nirmit for laying pipelines. Vehicles have a major problem traversing the area.

Private telecom companies have dug up roads in Kamothe for laying their cables. 4G, 3G, water and sewage pipeline laying has destroyed roads in several areas.

Cidco officials admitted that the roads are in a mess.

Kiran Phanse, superintending engineer, Cidco, said: “We are giving them 18 months for filling the potholes and repairing roads in various sectors of the city.”

Girish Kulkarni, a resident, said: “The condition of roads in Kamothe is bad. Cidco had so far not undertaken such huge road work. Hopefully things will improve now.”
