Panvel RTO will soon get its own office in Karanjade

PANVEL: After years of wait, the Panvel regional transport office (RTO) is all set to move out of the rented premises in the steel market and relocate to an office of its own. An RTO office will be constructed in Karanjade on land given by City and Industrial Development Cor poration (Cidco).

According to an RTO officer, “The public works department has prepared a plan for the building and submitted it to the transport commissioner for sanction.”

He said, “As soon as the transport commissioner gives the go ahead, the tender process will be initiated and the work will begin.”

It was in November 2010 that the state transport department divided Thane RTO and formed the Panvel RTO taking into account the expansion of Panvel. Initially the RTO office functioned from Karnala Sports Academy premises.
