3 detained for flying drone at Vashi
Three employees from an advertising company, who were allegedly flying a drone near the Vashi toll naka on Wednesday, were detained by the police.
However, they were allowed to go after a few hours when the police found nothing objectionable in the camera attached to the drone.
According to the police, the three men from a Mumbaibased advertising company were on their way to Panvel from Mumbai in two cars. They had plans to shoot a film for a construction company at Panvel and had carried the drone to take aerial shots.
“Just after crossing the toll naka at Vashi, they stopped their cars and flew the drone to check it as well as the camera. Probably, they did it just after entering Navi Mumbai assuming it to be safe, as the Mumbai police banned drones a few months ago,” said CM Godse, assistant police inspector from Vashi police station.
Some residents from that area spotted the drone in the sky and informed the police. The police immediately reached the spot and took all three to the police station.
“After checking the camera attached to the drone, we found nothing objectionable. So we allowed them to go after a few hours. No case has been registered against anyone. We also appreciate the alertness of the residents who informed us about the drone as soon as they spotted it flying,” he said.
