The Navi Mumbai Municipal

Corporatio­n (NMMC) had 423 mobile towers which were authorised and listed with the town planning department.

The permission of all these towers expired in September 2014

Only 42 of these came forward for renewal and action will be taken against rest of the 381 mobile towers

The civic body however does not have any list of illegal mobile towers in the city

Rules to comply before erecting a mobile tower:

It is mandatory to present the map showing the location of the mobile tower

This map must be certified by an architect and a stability certificat­e by the buildings certificat­e structural engineer is a must

A no-objection-certificat­e (NOC) from the buildings authorised signatory must also be obtained

It is also necessary for the mobile service company to obtain an NOC from NMMC’s town planning department
