EDUCATION FOR ALL

-

The state education department in 2014 had given directives to make the entire process of RTE admissions online, across the entire state. RTE allows admissions to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) children to seek free education in non-minority, unaided schools.

Officials from the education department have informed that they have sent notices to the schools with a list of instructions that they have to follow for taking awareness measures for the admissions. As per the instructions, all the schools have been asked to publicise the number of seats they have with their school, teaming up with the corporators of their respective wards and take awareness seminars, putting up posters and banners with their details nearby the school areas.

In 2015-16, the Panvel region admitted only 427 students out of the total 3000 seats that were available with them. While in the NMMC jurisdiction, around 623 students were admitted for the 3250 seats that were available.

Efforts have been taken to simplify the system as far as possible. After an applicant enters residential pin code on the form, the software will show schools where he/ she can take admission.
