Andheri teen dies after drinking binge

MUMBAI: A 19-year-old girl from Andheri (West) died of a suspected cardiac arrest after consuming alcohol with her friends at Juhu beach on Thursday. The police ruled out foul play, sexual assault and drug abuse, but will ascertain the cause of death after her chemi- cal analysis report is released by the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory at Kalina.

The police said the girl celebrated her birthday with her family and friends on Wednesday at her residence in Kapaswadi, Andheri (West). She lived with her mother, who is a chef, and a younger sister. Her parents divorced more than 10 years ago, the police said.

They said after the party ended, the girl lied to her mother saying she was going for a walk with her friends and would return in 10 minutes. She left with a girl and two boys, around 10pm. The police said the group was at Juhu beach drinking alcohol until 12am.
