The City and Industrial Development Cor poration (Cidco) had launched three helplines for residents if they are facing any problems with regards to sanitation last week. However, all three helplines have received a poor response in the past eight days, a senior officer said.

The three helplines introduced by the town planning agency were for the residents of New Panvel and Khanda Colony, Kharghar, Kalamboli and Kamothe. Heaps of garbage still lie unattended at different places in the nodes. “Our vehi- cles are regularly going to the nodes in our jurisdiction and are lifting garbage as we have been doing for the past several years. However, we have received poor response from the residents in this regard,” said one officer from the solid waste management department of Cidco.

“Despite having the helpline, residents are hardly cooperating with us in keeping the city clean and green. Had they informed us about the garbage lying in their neighbourhood on a regular basis, it would have been much easier for us to keep the city clean,” he added.

“Residents can report problems like non-lifting of garbage, non- cleaning or sweeping the roads and any other complaints with regard to garbage and bins. The complaints received and replies to them will be recorded under the cloud technology system. Complaints can be lodged from 9am to 6pm,” another officer said.
