No gathering of more than 5 from Mar 1-15
THANE: The Thane police commissioner has imposed prohibitionary orders in the city from March 1- 15. Protests, gathering of more than five people at one place, possessing any kind of arms, explosives or weapons are prohibited from March 1 to March 15.
In view of the ensuing celebrations like Mahashivratri, Shab-E-Meraj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Sacrifice Day, the Thane police have issued an order prohibiting any gathering of five or more persons while restricting individuals from taking out procession in the city till March 15. An officer from the police commissionerate said, “Any strike or rallies are not allowed during the next few days in the city. Police will restrict freedom of expression and freedom of assembly in the city. Whoever disobeys an order lawfully made is liable for punishment.” According to the order, action will be taken if someone is found with a sword, knife, or any weapon.
People are not allowed to hold stones or any object, play loud music or perform in the public, no one can give any slogans, speeches or give any expression which hurt others’ sentiments creating law and order problem in the city, not allowed to hold or display pictures of any person or politician to give any message.
The officer added, “We have taken these prohibitionary measures to keep peace in the city. No one should hurt anyone’s sentiment on any matter which will create panic in this pandemic situation, which has seen a rise in Covid cases in recent times.”
