NAVI MUMBAI: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has started yoga sessions for Covid patients admitted to its Dedicated Covid Health Centre at Cidco Exhibition Centre. The initiative has been taken up to boost the self-confidence of patients.

The one-hour sessions are held daily including from 11am to 12 noon. The sessions are taken by Art of Living’s Pramod Kokane, who does it as a social responsibility. He had taken the sessions for four months during the first phase as well.

NMMC civic chief,

Abhijit

Bangar, said “Will power is an important part of combatting Covid. Yoga pranayama helps in keeping a balance of breath, body and mental power. This helps control the mind and strengthen it. Similarly, yoga energises the body and keeps it active and strong. During the session, the first 30 minutes are for yogasanas, the next 15 minutes for pranayama and then meditation for 15 minutes. The self-confidence of the patients is being boosted through these yoga sessions.”

The sessions are welcomed by the patients. Said a patient, “It is very exciting and we certainly benefit from it. I will continue with yoga once I go home.”
