Lab owner held for fake negative reports

MUMBAI: The crime branch of Mumbai Police’s economic offences wing (EOW) on Thursday arrested a Kalachowki-based pathology lab owner for allegedly providing fake reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test reports. The accused, Vidyadhar Sahdev Ambonkar, was allegedly issuing reports without collecting swabs and conducting tests. Police suspect he has provided such test reports to nearly 200 people in the past one month. He was apprehended after the police received a tip-off and set a trap.
