Sindhu, Srikanth lose in Korea

NEW DELHI: The Indian challenge at the Korea Open badminton tournament ended on Saturday as PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth lost in the semi-finals in Suncheon.

Korean second seed An Se-young notched up her fourth win against Sindhu, breezing past the third seed 21-14, 21-17.

Indonesian Asian Games champion Jonatan Christie defeated fifth seed Srikanth 21-19, 21-16 in 50 minutes.

Pro League: Netherland­s down India in shootout

NEW DELHI: An inexperien­ced Netherland­s beat a near fullstreng­th Indian women’s hockey team in the second match of the

FIH Pro League double-header in Bhubaneswa­r on Saturday.

After edging past the visitors 2-1 on Friday, India lost 1-1 (1-3) via a penalty shooout. Rajwinder Kaur (1st) gave the hosts the lead in the first minute before Yibbi Jansen’s (54th) equaliser.

Leclerc puts Ferrari on pole at Australian GP

Former Companeroe­s SC player, coach and co-founder, Sydney Alexander, passed away after a cardiac arrest at his residence in Bandra on Saturday. He was 72. Sydney co-founded Companeroe­s SC’s hockey and football teams and also self-financed it.
