Sindhu, Srikanth lose in Korea
NEW DELHI: The Indian challenge at the Korea Open badminton tournament ended on Saturday as PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth lost in the semi-finals in Suncheon.
Korean second seed An Se-young notched up her fourth win against Sindhu, breezing past the third seed 21-14, 21-17.
Indonesian Asian Games champion Jonatan Christie defeated fifth seed Srikanth 21-19, 21-16 in 50 minutes.
Pro League: Netherlands down India in shootout
NEW DELHI: An inexperienced Netherlands beat a near fullstrength Indian women’s hockey team in the second match of the
FIH Pro League double-header in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
After edging past the visitors 2-1 on Friday, India lost 1-1 (1-3) via a penalty shooout. Rajwinder Kaur (1st) gave the hosts the lead in the first minute before Yibbi Jansen’s (54th) equaliser.
Leclerc puts Ferrari on pole at Australian GP
MELBOURNE: Charles Leclerc took pole position for Ferrari in crash-laden qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix on Saturday, pipping Red Bull’s world champion Max Verstappen on the upgraded Albert Park circuit.
Leclerc saved his best for last, his flying lap of one minute 17.868 seconds nearly threetenths of a second quicker than Verstappen. Verstappen finished ahead of Sergio Perez, with
McLaren’s Lando Norris to start fourth on the grid.

Companeroes co-founder Sydney passes away
Former Companeroes SC player, coach and co-founder, Sydney Alexander, passed away after a cardiac arrest at his residence in Bandra on Saturday. He was 72. Sydney co-founded Companeroes SC’s hockey and football teams and also self-financed it.
