MAN SENDS ₹1,500 TO RAHUL GANDHI BY MONEY ORDER
THANE: Complainant Rajesh Kunte, who had filed a defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, has sent a money order of ₹1,500 to Gandhi’s Delhi office following a Bhiwandi court order.
The money was delivered to Gandhi’s Delhi office on Thursday. The court of Judicial Magistrate JV Paliwal, on April 21, ordered RSS leader Kunte to pay ₹1,000 as fine to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case. The order came after the complainant, Kunte, moved an adjournment application.
Apart from this fine, in March, the court had postponed the hearing after rejecting the request of the complainant to produce another notary witness from Delhi. At that time, the court had asked to pay ₹500 to Rahul Gandhi as fine but the complainant didn’t pay it at that time. The hearing in the case filed against the Congress leader by Kunte was supposed to begin on a day-to-day basis. It was adjourned several times and a total final of ₹1,500 to be paid by the complainant was pending.
The complainant’s lawyer, Ganesh Dhargalkar, said, “The court has asked us to pay fine two times. Therefore, recently, we sent ₹1,500 by post to Gandhi as per court’s order. “
Defence lawyer, Narayan Iyer, said, “The complainant requested for adjournment on April 21 again but the court rejected the application. I got a call from Rahul Gandhi’s office from Delhi confirming that they got a Money Order from Kunte for ₹1,500. We hope the case will start on a daily basis as per the court order. The Bhiwandi court has also asked to produce evidence and witnesses on the next date of hearing on May 10.”
