Niemann’s $100mn suit against Carlsen
Niemann sued world champion Magnus Carlsen and leading online platform Chess.com for $100 million, accusing them of slander over cheating allegations. Carlsen was beaten by Niemann at an event in September, robbing the former of a top rating and breaking his unbeaten streak, Niemann’s lawyers said, adding that Carlsen “maliciously retaliated” and accused Niemann of cheating “without evidence.” Niemann has previously admitted to cheating when he was 12 and 16 by using a computer to help him win online chess games.
