GAS AGENCY OWNER HELD FOR ILLICIT LPG RACKET IN KANDIVALI

MUMBAI: The owner – Ketaki Desai – of the Kandivali-based Asu gas agency was arrested on Thursday for her alleged role in the illegal LPG distributi­on racket which was busted in September.

According to the police, on September 15, three persons – Mangilal Bishnoi, Shravan Kumar Bishnoi, and Tirumurti Perumal were arrested for illegally transferri­ng liquid petroleum gas from domestic cylinders into commercial ones and selling them at inflated prices.

194 cylinders, a tempo and a weighing scale, worth Rs 10 lakh were seized from a godown in Madh, where the accused were allegedly converting the LPG cylinders into commercial ones.

“They sold the commercial cylinders for Rs 2200 a piece,” said a police officer.
