GAS AGENCY OWNER HELD FOR ILLICIT LPG RACKET IN KANDIVALI
MUMBAI: The owner – Ketaki Desai – of the Kandivali-based Asu gas agency was arrested on Thursday for her alleged role in the illegal LPG distribution racket which was busted in September.
According to the police, on September 15, three persons – Mangilal Bishnoi, Shravan Kumar Bishnoi, and Tirumurti Perumal were arrested for illegally transferring liquid petroleum gas from domestic cylinders into commercial ones and selling them at inflated prices.
194 cylinders, a tempo and a weighing scale, worth Rs 10 lakh were seized from a godown in Madh, where the accused were allegedly converting the LPG cylinders into commercial ones.
“They sold the commercial cylinders for Rs 2200 a piece,” said a police officer.
