RTI ACTIVIST HELD FOR ‘DEROGATORY’ TWEETS ON CM
MUMBAI: The Mumbai police crime branch has arrested an RTI activist for allegedly making derogatory comments against CM Eknath Shinde and DCM Devendra Fadnavis on Twitter.
Pradeep Bhalekar, who runs an NGO called Mumbai Vikas Aghadi, is accused of regularly tweeting objectionable posts about the CM for the past few days. On October 23, he had posted a 4-page letter that he wrote to the registrar of Bombay high court, in which he had made allegations against Shinde and Fadnavis regarding the murder of Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe and anti-superstition activists Narendra Dabholkar. Officials of the North Region Cyber Police station received information about the tweets and after an inquiry, Vijay Chandanshive, senior police inspector, filed a complaint, based on which an FIR was registered.
