IndiGo aborts flight after sparks on runway

An emergency was declared at Delhi’s IGI airport after passengers spotted sparks and fire in a wing of IndiGo’s Bengaluru-bound flight 6E2131 on Friday night, officials said. The flight, which was carrying 180 people, was grounded. IndiGo, in a statement, said the take-off was aborted and the aircraft safely returned to the bay. “An aircraft operating flight 6E2131 from Delhi to Bangalore experience­d an engine stall during take off roll... We regret the inconvenie­nce caused to the passengers,” the airline said.

A video shared by a passenger on Friday night showed fire and sparks coming out of what appeared to be the engine of the aircraft.
