- Vinay Dalvi

MUMBAI: A call to the police control room on Thursday about a terrorist landing near Haji Ali Dargah turned out to be a hoax. The caller has been traced to Ulhasnagar.

“We received a call around 2 pm. We immediately searched the whole area with the help of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and a sniffer dog,” an officer said.

Later, the police alerted the dargah staff, and asked the hawkers to stay vigilant.

The caller, a 36-year-old man, stays with his father. According to the police, he had suffered a fall while playing 18 years ago and sustained injuries to his head and nose.

“Since then, whenever it hurts, he thinks the police are beating him. He is kept at home and is never left alone. We have warned the family. No offence has been registered,” the officer said.
