GYANVAPI: PLEA ON REJECTION OF CARBON DATING ADMITTED BY HC
PRAYAGRAJ: The Allahabad high court on Friday admitted a review petition challenging an order passed by the Varanasi district judge, which rejected a demand for carbon dating as well as a scientific examination of a structure found inside the Gyanvapi mosque complex.
The Hindu side claims that the structure is a “shivling”; the Muslims say it’s part of a fountain.
Admitting the petition filed by Laxmi Devi and others, justice JJ Munir also ordered the issuing of notices to the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee, which manages the affairs of the Gyanvapi mosque. An application was moved before the district judge demanding a scientific determination of the age, character etc. of the structure, found during a survey of the complex earlier this year.
