Dowry case: Relief for AI pilot, family

MUMBAI: The sessions court on Thursday granted relief to an Air India pilot and his family in connection with a dowry harassment case filed by his wife, observing that the woman had filed a complaint three years after she was deserted by her husband.

The couple got married on February 21, 2018. The woman claimed that several gold ornaments, clothes and articles were given by her parents at the time of marriage. Besides that, ₹2 lakh was deposited in the account of the pilot and 1,500 dollars were given to him by the her father. She alleged that her husband was asking her to speak to her father to buy a flat for them.

The woman also alleged that her health deteriorat­ed because her husband assaulted her.

The complainan­t claimed that on April 21, 2019, after a quarrel between the couple, her husband consumed floor cleaner and threatened her that he would make a statement that she gave him floor cleaner on pretext of lemon juice.

The complainan­t has lodged the report after more than three years. In fact, after filing the DV case, this FIR came to be lodged SESSIONS COURT

The pilot and his parents had approached the court for anticipato­ry bail after the complaint. They claimed that the complainan­t had made a false story. They said before filing the present case, she had filed a complaint of domestic violence.

“At one place the complainan­t states that after marriage her mother-in-law had taken all the ornaments from her under the pretext that those would be kept in tijori. On the contrary, at another place, she states that she had refused to hand over the ornaments to her mother-in-law, therefore, she was beaten up by her mother-in-law and husband,” the court order read.
