ED is controlled by Modi and Shah, says Jairam

NANDED: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday said the PMLA court, while granting bail to Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut, made scathing observations on the behaviour of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

He said the remarks indicate that ED is not an independent organisation and is dancing to the tune of prime minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah. Its officers are being used to intimidate and target the political opponents of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he alleged. “Now, there is ample evidence to show ED is not a professional agency. Even opposition leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Sharad Pawar were targeted by the agency,” he said. The Congress leader, who was in Nanded for Bharat Jodo Yatra added that Raut paid the price for being a bitter critic of the PM. Meanwhile, Aaditya Thackeray will join senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra on Friday.
