Now, buy suburban train tickets online within five kilometre radius of station
MUMBAI: In a relief to suburban local train commuters, railways has extended the radius for booking tickets through Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) to 5 kms from the current 2 kms of the originating station.
For non-suburban trains the radius has been increased from the existing 5 km to 20 km.
Earlier, Rajnish Goyal, divisional railway manager, Central
Railway (CR) had assured commuters that the radius for booking tickets through the UTS app will be increased.
“This is part of our service to provide commuter-friendly facilities. This will also help ease ticket booking facilities,” said an officer from the railways.
Meanwhile, the CR has plans to do away with the manual ticket vending procedure by increasing self-ticketing zones and cater to the glitches related to booking tickets through UTS. Currently, only 7% of the total ticket sales happen online or through the UTS application.
