SOME WITHIN THE CITY, SOME GIVEN NEW POSTINGS
MUMBAI: Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar on Saturday transferred some deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) and posted some DCPs who have been brought into the city following state-wide reshuffling in the department.
Deputy commissioner of police Akbar Pathan, who was booked along with former Mumbai commissioner Param Bir Singh in an extortion case, has been given the charge of Zone III - from Nagpada to Parel. Pathan was recently transferred to the city by the state government from Nashik.
Phansalkar transferred 28 officers from the city. Abhinav Deshmukh who had served as superintendent of police, Gadchiroli, Kolhapur and Pune rural has been given the charge of Zone II which comprises of areas like Zaveri Bazaar, Pydhonie and Girgaum.
DCP Pravin Munde has been given the charge of Zone IV.
Manoj Patil, who served as SP, Ahmednagar and later in the Government Railway Police has been posted as DCP Zone-V and will be responsible for areas like Dadar and Mahim.
Hemraj Rajput took over as the DCP Zone VI, Purshottam Karad as DCP of Zone-VII, which comprise areas like Mulund and Ghatkopar. Dikshit Gedam has been posted as DCP Zone-VIII.
Anil Paraskar who worked as superintendent of police, Raigad, and was recently posted in the State Intelligence Department, will take over as DCP Zone-IX from Manjunath Shinge. Zone IX covers areas like Bandra to Andheri and is a sought-after posting.
Ajay Bansal was appointed as DCP Zone-XI and Smita Patil as DCP Zone-XII both will be responsible for maintaining law and order in Northern suburbs.
“Phansalkar has appointed Prashant Kadam as DCP Detection in the Mumbai Crime branch and Krishna Kant Upadhyay as DCP Detection-1, also in the Mumbai Crime branch,” said a senior officer.
