Aaftab to take narco test, court extends his custody by five days
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Thursday granted permission to Delhi Police to conduct a narco analysis of Aaftab Amin Poonawala after he gave his consent for the test.
Poonawala, 28, is accused of murdering his partner Shraddha Walkar, 27, on May 18 at their rented accommodation in south Delhi’s Chhattarpur Pahadi area, dismembering her body, and dumping the body parts over a period of three months.
On Thursday, metropolitan magistrate Vijayshree Rathore granted Delhi Police permission for conducting a narco analysis of Poonawala, on an application moved by the police on November 12. Earlier in the day, metropolitan magistrate Aviral Shukla, in a different hearing, extended Poonawala’s police custody by five days after the investigating agency sought his remand for 10 days.
The hearings in the case were held virtually.
