NZ NATIONAL ROBBED OF ₹2.9L; ACCUSED HELD

MUMBAI: The Chhatrapat­i Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Government Railway Police (GRP), on Monday, arrested a woman – Radha Ashok Sethi – for allegedly robbing valuables and gold worth ₹2.89 lakh from a New Zealand national.

According to Mehboob Inamdar, senior police inspector of CSMT GRP, the woman from New Zealand, Rechel Omsbi, could not find her handbag around 12.10 pm. It contained her laptop, mobile phone, a gold ring and a chain.

On checking the CCTV footage, the officers found that the bag was picked up by a woman.

“She then boarded a train to Kharghar,” said Inamdar. The thief reached Bandra Terminus. When the officers reached there they found that the woman had already boarded the Ajmer Express. “We alerted the Borivali GRP officers,” said Inamdar. “The police arrested Sethi, 32 – a resident of Jaipur – and recovered the entire booty.
