SRINI PICKS HIMSELF TO HEAD PANEL
MUMBAI: The BCCI AGM on Sunday saw the re-election of N Srinivasan as president with his key allies appointed to all key positions.
The Tamil Nadu association chief cemented his position and rewarded those who stood by him during the crisis which followed the spot-fixing scandal.
However, the composition of the BCCI’S disciplinary committee is likely to raise questions as all eyes were on the panel due to the controversies the Board is mired in. The names were put up on the BCCI website on Tuesday.
The committee consists of Srinivasan and two vice-presidents, Rajeev Shukla (Central Zone) and Shivlal Yadav (South Zone). Srinivasan’s presence is bound to invite more criticism as he is already caught up in conflict of interest since acquiring the CSK IPL franchise.
The Supreme Court has asked him not to take charge as president until it gives its ruling on a petition seeking a fresh internal probe panel for investigating charges related to his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan and other officials.
Former India spinner Yadav too has faced controversies during his tenure with the Hyderabad Cricket Association. Shukla had quit as the IPL chairman after the spot-fixing scandal hit the league.
