RAM VILAS PASWAN SAYS THE ALLIANCE BETWEEN THE LJP AND RJD WILL BECOME ROCK SOLID FOLLOWING THE CBI COURT JUDGMENT

RANCHI: The alliance between the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) would stay in Bihar but continuing support to the UPA would depend on the Congress, said LJP chief and former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan after meeting Lalu Prasad in jail on Thursday.

RJD MP Prabhunath Singh, who defeated the JD (U) candidate and former education minister PK Shahi in the Lok Sabha bypoll from Maharajaganj (Bihar) in June this year by a margin of 136,000 votes, seconded it. Singh, however, said it’s up to the party to take the final call.

“The alliance between the LJP and RJD will become rock solid following the CBI court judgment, Laluji will continue as the leader,” said Paswan, whose relationship with Prasad has gone through ups and downs

The leaders were here to meet the RJD president in jail after the CBI court announced the jail terms and penalties of Prasad and 36 others convicted in the ₹950-crore fodder scam.

Commenting on Prasad’s con viction and jail term, he said it was a conspiracy against the maverick leader. “We respect the court but could feel that a con spiracy was being hatched. We smelt the rat earlier, it has tum bled out of the bag now,” Paswan said.
